Project Season Women
A theatrical response by Nedie Antoniades, Athina Kasiou and Ioanna Papamichalopoulou in the context of collaboration with the SEZON Women
Lefteris Economou Cultural Foundation presents a theatrical response inspired by current exhibition 8΄20΄΄: Vera Gavrielidou Hadjida by Nedie Antoniades, Athina Kasiou and Ioanna Papamichalopoulou in the context of collaboration with the SEZON Women.
SEZON Women studies and approaches the material from the archive of the artist, and designs a theatrical response structured around the necessity to approach and get closer to the history of the painter. The group will occupy the space for two days, experimenting with the available archival and audio material, making use of literal theater techniques and focusing on the special personality and life of the artist, so that on November 17th they will present a theatrical action to the public at 8:30 p.m. in the exhibition space itself.
This exhibition showcases paintings and drawings by Vera Gavrielidou-Hadjida (1936-2012), whose work is an indelible part of the Cypriot art history – a history which this exhibition wants to challenge. A selection of her artworks will be exhibited, centering around her works from the 70s and 80s, which are strongly inspired by European art movements such as surrealism and constructivism. Vera’s work is impressively diverse and rich in experimentation, exploring various artistic genres and philosophies, ranging from geometry to abstract expressionism.
